Lock Up Contestants: Ekta Kapoor’s controversial reality show Lock Up has started from February 27. The streaming partners of the reality show ALT Balaji and MX Player have revealed the contestants. Hosted by Kangana Ranaut, the show will be a haven for the most dramatic and controversial celebrities, who do not shy away from turning the lives of others into nightmares. His past controversies are what made him go viral. Munawwar Farooqui: Munawwar Farooqui is a stand-up comedian who had to spend a month in jail in Indore in January 2021 after a BJP MLA’s son accused him of hurting religious sentiments in one of his stand-up shows. Sunil Pal: Comedian Sunil has been paired with Munawwar Farooqui. Sunil has appeared in many laughing reality shows and has also acted in many films. He had been in controversy for using abusive language in the streaming of web-series and movies on the OTT platform. He had reprimanded actor Manoj Bajpayee for misbehaving with him. Chakrapani: Known as Chakrapani Maharaj, he was in the news for his ‘cow urine party’ in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic. During the 2018 Kerala floods, Chakrapani publicly opposed providing aid to beef eaters and blamed the floods on the killing of cows.
Saisha Shinde: Fashion designer Saisha Shinde came out as a transwoman in early 2021. He changed his name from Swapnil Shinde. She designed a stunning silver gown with beaded embellishments from Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu and the neckline became a part of the historic moment. Saisha has been paired with Chakrapani.
Poonam Pandey: Poonam Pandey, who made her debut with Nasha in 2013, was in the news after sharing semi-porn videos and pictures on Instagram. He even had his own app named after him. Poonam married her long-term boyfriend Sam Bombay and later filed a complaint against him alleging molestation, threats and assault. Now, she is single and looking for a partner.
Babita Phogat: Wrestler-turned-politician Babita Phogat has put forward a controversial tweet that ‘Jamaati’ is a bigger problem in India than the novel coronavirus pandemic. A section of social media users slammed Babita Phogat and asked Twitter to suspend the BJP politician’s account for the controversial post. Perhaps, she is one of the least controversial contestants and hence is paired opposite Poonam Pandey.
Sara Khan: Actress Sara Khan will also be seen in the show. She earlier participated in Bigg Boss 4 and married Ali Merchant on the show. However, they got divorced within a few months. She loves to be in news and hence remains in controversies.
Siddharth Sharma: Siddharth acted in reality shows like Big F and Splitsvilla. He has also played the role of Ranbir Chaudhary in ALT Balaji’s web series Punch Beat. There is no such dispute related to them.
Shivam Sharma: Shivam Sharma was one of the most controversial contestants of Splitsvilla. He has been away from showbiz for some time now. Now, she is one of the contestants in Lock Up. Well, it will be interesting to see how Shivam plays the game and entertains the show.
Anjali Arora: Anjali is a Social Media Influencer. She enters the stage and says that she has a huge following on Instagram because people love her. People call her fake because her followers don’t know what kind of influencer she is.
Karanvir Bohra: Lock up contestant Karanvir Bohra is behind bars for ‘stealing limelight’.
Nisha Rawal: TV actress Nisha Rawal filed a police complaint against her then-husband actor Karan Mehra alleging physical harassment and extramarital affairs. Karan denied the allegations and claimed that he staged his injuries as he refused to pay her alimony. He has been accused of causing hurt on social media.
Tehseen Poonawalla: Smriti Irani accused Tehseen Poonawalla of making inappropriate remarks against her. Lock Up isn’t the first screen appearance for lawyer and activist Tehseen. Earlier he participated in Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss 13.
Payal Rohatgi: Former Bigg Boss contestant Payal Rohatgi has worked in few movies and TV shows. She is often in the news for her controversial statements. A case was registered against him in Pune for an alleged defamatory video on social media platforms about Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi.
