During his visit, which is likely on 27-28 May, he is scheduled to visit the Coastal Police Academy in Dwarka. Shah is also likely to attend cooperatives-related events in Godhra, and he will address a public meeting in Kheda, where the 2017 elections saw a face-off between the BJP and the Congress. Meetings and programs are scheduled with party workers in his own Lok Sabha constituency Gandhinagar.
There are over 81,000 cooperative societies in Gujarat, which benefited the Congress for decades. However, most of them are now controlled by the BJP. Shah, who also holds the cooperative department, had visited the state only about a month ago and visited places like Banaskantha and Panchmahal. Shah’s visit is likely to give impetus to the BJP’s ‘one day, one district’ programme, which will focus on at least one top party leader to visit each district.
While Gujarat BJP President CR Patil and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel are touring various districts and leading the programme, it is the visit of leaders from Delhi that is setting the tone for the campaign.
