Blame for DC missing IPL playoffs is not just Pant’s fault but team management’s

After Delhi Capitals (DC) missed out on qualifying for the IPL 2022 playoffs, young skipper Rishabh Pant appears to be at the receiving end of the field and talks with coach Ricky Ponting. There was a perception that Ponting was unhappy with some of Pant’s field placements during the final overs of the match.

In fact, during the post-match interview, the expert commentator asked what Ponting told him at the post-match tete-a-tete. However, Pant preferred to interpret it as a question on pre-match strategy and replied that Ponting had asked him to keep things simple!

In a post-match analysis, specialist commentator and former India coach Ravi Shastri said that it was a no-brainer that the DRS should have been taken. Five overs to go and DC still have both DRS appeals in hand. Shastri didn’t even bother to explain. Which was that it was worth taking the opportunity to go for the DRS as the key player to get rid of David.

During the live telecast of the match, there was a loud groan of DC supporters in the crowd when replays showed a spike at Ultra Edge, when the ball hit David’s bat. Expert commentators like Graeme Swann said that Pant could not have the confidence to take the DRS as he had given a straight chance in the first match when MI one-down batsman Donald Brevis skidded the ball.

The question that arises is why didn’t Shardul Thakur insist on taking DRS if he was sure that Tim David had put the ball in the keeper’s glove? As a bowler, Thakur would have had a frontal and better view of the edge than keeper Pant.

The DC captain’s failure to pick up the DRS is the focus of the match, with expert commentators such as Graeme Swann pointing out that Pant lacked the coolness associated with the legendary former Indian wicketkeeper-captain Dhoni, who would continue to lead the Chennai Super Kings. Huh. IPL.

However, is it fair to compare the 24-year-old DC captain with the 40-year-old Dhoni, who was older today than Pant at the time of his international debut? Doni has played 15 seasons of IPL. This is Pant’s sixth season.

Ponting is quoted as saying that he told Pant after the match, “I was disappointed with the tact we did at the end of the game. The way we bowled and the grounds that were set up. “The number of players at the crease, given the conditions and the type. I think we did a lot of these things wrong.”

The problem with what Ponting said to Pat is that it makes sense if it comes from an expert commentator who is only analyzing the game. As a seasoned coach, Ponting could certainly provide the necessary guidance during the match. All Ponting had to do was to send a substitute fielder to Pant to provide the necessary guidance between overs or during two time-outs and suggest desired changes through bowling and field placement.

In a crucial game where skipper Pant was not only one of the main batsmen but also the focus keeper on every ball, it is possible to commit errors of judgment at crucial moments. That pressure on the captain could and should have been relieved by putting the team-management in a better position to sit on the sidelines and evaluate things objectively.

For example, when MI bowled, the spinners were not getting much buy from the wicket and were being patted by the DC batsmen. It was the MI pacers who put the DC batsmen under pressure.

Similarly, when MI were chasing a modest DC total of 159, the batsmen were under pressure from four pacers Khaleel Ahmed, Nortje, Thakur and Mitchell Marsh. However, after the first six overs were bowled and area restrictions were eased, Marsh was immediately replaced with spinners when he went for just 7 runs in a two-over spell. Marsh was not bowled for the rest of the match.

Certainly, with a time-out of 150 seconds to be taken after the first six overs, Ponting could have advised Pant on the MI batsmen through Marsh and Thakur, reserving Khaleel Ahmed and Nortje for the final overs. Keep applying pressure. The spinners could have been introduced after Marsh had completed his four-over spell.

Making Pant a fall man doesn’t really serve any purpose, even though Ponting later said that the DC captain was only 24 and would learn from his mistakes. As per his comments at the end of the game, Ponting was aware that the young captain was under pressure. Certainly, the coach could have relieved the captain’s stress by providing necessary guidance during the match, either between overs or during two time-outs.

David and Victoria Beckham, Cara Delevingne Give It Up for Charity – WWD – Pen 18

london – The Sunday Times of London has singled out some of Britain’s biggest philanthropists, and they include the former Selfridges owners, the Weston family; David and Victoria Beckham; Cara Delevingne, and François-Henri Pinault and Salma Hayek.

The newspaper published The Giving List as a sidebar to its annual Rich List, ranking donors by percentage of the net worth they had given over the past year and for what reasons.

Many gave to charities related to COVID-19 in the wake of the pandemic, while the paper also noted that the 2022 list includes more climate change activists than ever before.

Aside from COVID-19, the fashion world has focused on a range of causes over the past 12 months, including health, education and Ukraine.

Lewis Hamilton, who has collaborated in the past with Tommy Hilfiger and is an investor in W Magazine, ranked fifth on The Giving List, donated £20 million of his £300 million fortune to youth, education and employment charities gave.

The Weston family, which last year sold to Selfridges Group but which still owns Fortnum & Mason, Primark’s parent Associated British Foods and Holt Renfrew in Canada, came in at number 24. The family donated £182.5 million to COVID-19 causes, education and charity. Art.

The family’s net worth has risen by £2.5 billion to £13.5 billion over the past year, making them the eighth-richest person on the 2022 rich list.

For the annual rich list, The Sunday Times makes its own calculations of the minimum wealth of individuals and families based on information in the public domain.

It ranks the 250 wealthiest people living and working in the UK (not necessarily British citizens) and breaks down even shorter lists including the wealthiest musicians and charity donors.

Number 35 on The Giving List was Delevingne, who is estimated to be worth £41 million, and who gave £400,000 to environmental causes. Last year, she founded her grassroots charity, Initiative Earth, which helps people regenerate their local ecosystems and communities.

Musician, fashion lover and founder of new beauty brand Pleasing Harry Styles was ranked 37th. According to the newspaper, he donated 800,000 pounds of his £100 million fortune to “various causes”.

David and Victoria Beckham were ranked 65th on The Giving List, a £1 million donation to Ukraine following Vladimir Putin’s invasion of the country earlier this year.

Beckham’s net worth was estimated at £425 million by The Sunday Times, partly thanks to David’s recent deal with the Authentic Brands Group.

Beckham did not make the top 250 ranking, although his wealth exceeds that of fellow celebrities including Elton John, Sting, Mick Jagger, all of whom have net worth of less than £400 million.

Tie for number 92 on the Giving List were Pinault and Hayek and father and son diamond jewelry tycoons Lawrence and François Graf.

The owner of the Kering Group and his actress wife sit on an estimated net worth of £7.13 billion and have given £5.5 million for COVID-19 and other humanitarian causes.

The Graffs, ranked 56th on the 2022 Rich List, have an estimated net worth of £3 billion, and have given £2.6 million to COVID-19, poverty relief and African health charities over the past year.

Madrassa word should cease to exist, schools should impart modern education: Sarma

Opposing the madrassa system for children, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said that schools should give modern education so that students have the option of doing whatever they want in future and religious education can be imparted at home. He said that admission to any religious institution should be at an age where individuals can take their own decisions.

Speaking at a media conclave of RSS-affiliated Weeklies Panchjanya and Organizer, Sarma said that children would not be ready to attend a madrasa if they were told that they would not be able to become a doctor or engineer after studying there and claimed admission. Did. Making them attend such religious schools is a violation of human rights.

“Madrassa, the word itself must die. As long as this madrasa remains in the mind, children can never become doctors or engineers.

Sarma said, “If you ask while admitting a child to a madrasa… no child will agree. Children are admitted to madrassas violating their human rights.”

After the event, Sarma elaborated on his remarks that the education system in madrassas should be such that they can give the students the option to do anything in future.

“The admission to any religious institution should be at an age where they can take their own decisions,” he told reporters.

“I have always advocated the non-existence of madrassas where religious leanings take precedence over formal education. Every child will be exposed to knowledge of science, maths and other branches of modern education,” Sarma later tweeted.

Speaking at the event, Sarma said that every child deserves to get formal education.

The BJP said, “You may teach Quran at home for hours, but in school a child deserves to be taught science and mathematics. Every child will be exposed to the knowledge of science, mathematics and other branches of modern education.” said the leader.

Sarma made this remark while answering a question on how madrassas can be made better for imparting education so that more professionals can come out of these schools.

When pointed out that the madrassa-going students are talented in memorizing the Quran, Sarma said, “…if the madrassa-going child is meritorious, it is because of his Hindu heritage…all at a time.” Muslims were Hindus.”

Sarma said that Assam has 36 per cent Muslim population, which is divided into three categories: indigenous Muslims, who have a culture similar to ours, converted Muslims – we call them indigenous Muslims, they still have a Tulsi plant in their courtyard and displaced Muslims Those who call themselves Mia Muslims.

Chief Ministers of several BJP-ruled states – (Haryana) Manohar Lal Khattar, (Himachal Pradesh) Jai Ram Thakur, (Goa) Pramod Sawant and (Manipur) N Biren Singh – also participated in the conference. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath virtually attended the conference.

Karik Aryan on critics who called his films sexist in the past (Photo created by Gaurav Gautam for india.com)

VK: Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has created such a buzz. How is your current mood?

KA: This film is very entertaining. The kind of response we have received has only elevated our energies. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has surrounded all this enthusiasm. People are asking about the film and they are eager to see it. I am loving it. Also read- Kartik Aaryan praises Dhaakad, breaks silence on supporting Kangana Ranaut’s self-made journey. particular

VK: You did a film called Pyaar Ka Punchnama and I believe that was a turning point in your career. A section of the audience also called the film sexist. Some said it glorified toxic masculinity. As an actor, how do you take this kind of criticism and move on from there?

KA: I am an audience actor. I am here to entertain them. I only need their verification. my turning point was actually Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. Now that story could be someone else’s. We don’t need to reason everything out. We cannot analyze why a villain has killed someone – then there can be no story. We cannot ask the question of how this story is possible. There are characters in the story and this is their story. when you talk Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, It did good business at the box office and I know many people who call it their favorite film. There is a reason for that. We are not giving any wrong message. This is a work of imagination. Also, the audience is smart enough. It’s not like they’ll start doing that. They know what’s happening on-screen.

VK: One of the reasons why people love you or like your work is because they feel a sense of belonging – you look like one of them. They say ‘Karthik is the hero of his house.’ When you look back, do you feel proud to think that I may have started somewhere but wherever I am today, at least I belong to the people?

KA: I feel so proud and grateful and also lucky that I get so much love from fans. I want to entertain them for the rest of my life. I think it came from a sense of belonging that how he saw my struggle through my eyes – from Punchnama (postmortem of love) from day to day Maze, I think they can relate to my journey. In fact, people from all over the country, not just from this industry… when they see my journey, they feel themselves related. I feel so happy when I hear these stories of struggles and people get inspired by my story.

You know I am really proud of my struggle. Even if given a chance, I would not like to change anything because where I am today is because of my ups and downs. I have learned a lot from my journey. To be honest, no school or college can teach what I have learned from my failures in life. My shortcomings have taught me a lot about how to move on when everything is not going in your favor. It’s about life experiences that keep pushing you. I hope I continue to have experiences like this… just at my high level for now (laughs). That’s where the sense of relativity and belonging comes from.

Also, I’ve been on the other side where I’ve learned to be a fan of actors. I used to watch actors and whenever I saw a star I used to feel very happy. I remember all those days. This is all unrealistic.

VK: A blessed Kartik Aaryan…

KA: Yes. Thank you.

VK: What do you have to say to those who will compare you with Akshay Kumar because he did a similar role in Bhool Bhulaiyaa a few years back?

KA: I think it will be a little extra if people are comparing me with Akshay. His body of work has been fantastic and so great. He is a superstar ever since I started following him in my childhood. I am inspired by that journey and the way he has carved a niche among his audience. I don’t think any comparison exists. I just wanted to make it look like a new character. I hope the audience can see that I have given my 200 percent in this.

VK: Congratulations on your incredible journey, Kartik. Best wishes for the future. Thank you for talking to us.
