The integration will help farmers access information like latest research and development, weather and market updates, services available, government schemes and advisories for various agro-climatic zones under one umbrella.
The ministry is looking at merging apps like Kisan Suvidha, Pusa Krishi, M Kisan, Shetkari Monthly Android App, Farm-O-pedia, Crop Insurance Android App, AgriMarket, IFFCO Kisan and ICAR’s Krishi Gyan.
“The compilation of various apps under one super app at one place will help farmers choose a bouquet of services as per their requirements,” the official said on condition of anonymity. “The focus will be on aggregating these apps to further ease the process of finding a relevant app.”
Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar recently met senior officials of the ministry to review the progress on the development of the Super App. The official said that it can be launched in the next few weeks.
The Super App will also be used to educate farmers on post-harvest issues including crop production and technologies, and marketing. This will help in connecting the farmers directly with the scientific community, the official said.
Existing apps that will be integrated with Super Apps have been developed by several government bodies such as ICAR institutes, state agricultural universities, Krishi Vigyan Kendras and other departments.
