BJP spokesperson Rajyavardhan Rathore told media persons, “It was a peaceful procession which was attacked by members of one community and the police were only spectators.”
BJP Rajasthan President Satish Poonia accused the Ashok Gehlot government of running a Taliban-like government. “Processions of Hindus are not being allowed everywhere. In Karauli, they were attacked. The state government is doing the politics of appeasement and running the government like the Taliban.”
Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasara told reporters in Jaipur, “Congress always moves ahead by taking all 36 communities along and we are against dividing the society. BJP’s politics is to divide the people of this country.”
Senior Congress leader Avinash Pandey said in Jaipur, “The whole country is feeling the heat of inflation and Congress leaders are opposing it all over the country. To divert attention, BJP is raising such issues which have nothing to do with people and development. -Do not give.”
The state’s top police official said on Friday that out of 44 people identified for the violence, 23 people have been arrested so far. Curfew has been in place in the city since April 2, when “stones were pelted at a bike rally passing through a Muslim-dominated area, which was provoked by some provocative remarks made by the rallyists”. There is a relaxation of three hours every day in the curfew. DGP ML Lather said, 23 miscreants have been arrested so far in connection with the incident that took place during a bike rally taken out on the occasion of Nav Samvatsar in Karauli on April 2.
