vyapam case: MP arrests Vyapam whistle-blower Anand Rai for allegations against Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s OSD

Vyapam whistleblower Anand Rai has sought help from the Supreme Court after he was arrested by the Madhya Pradesh Police last night. Rai’s arrest comes after his recent allegation over the MP Teacher Eligibility Test (MP-TET) paper leak.

A complaint filed against Rai by Laxman Singh Markam, OSD to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan, alleged that Rai had ‘fabricated’ evidence against him and shared it on social media to implicate him. The state Congress president is also named in the FIR.

Rai had demanded a CBI probe into the MP-TET paper leak case. Hours after the Madhya Pradesh High Court withdrew protection from arrest, the MP Police subsequently issued a summons and arrested him. Rai was suspended with immediate effect as a medical officer at a hospital in Indore for being ‘absent from work’.

A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice NV Ramana agreed to hear the plea on Monday after it was mentioned by senior advocate Vivek Tankha, who argued that the whistle blower was arrested while the Vyapam case The main accused were out on bail.
