Indians only people who have managed democracy at unparalleled scale: Rahul

Democracy in India is a global public good and Indians are the only people who have managed democracy on an unparalleled scale, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said while participating in the ‘Thoughts for India’ conference in London on Friday. Gandhi, who is in the UK, also posted pictures of the event on Twitter in which he was seen standing with opposition leaders – RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav, Manoj Jha, TMC’s Mahua Moitra and CPI(M)’s Sitaram Yechury.

Gandhi tweeted after the event, “Democracy in India is a global public good. We are the only people who have managed democracy on our unparalleled scale.”

The former Congress chief also said that the ‘Ideas for India’ conference saw rich exchanges between them on many subjects.

Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Salman Khurshid and party spokesperson Gurdeep Singh Sappal also attended the event.

Gandhi will interact with students at the University of Cambridge in London on May 23 and address them on ‘India at 75’.

In an effort to reach out to the Indian diaspora, Gandhi has interacted with students from several foreign universities over the past few months.
