He said more than 50 people were rescued from the building.
Delhi Fire Director Atul Garg said, “A total of 26 bodies were recovered from a three-storey commercial building that caught fire this evening near Delhi’s Mundka metro station. Search is on on the third floor.”
Talking to the media, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Outer District Sameer Sharma said, around 15 fire tenders are on the spot. Rescue operation is on.
Sharma said, “Rescue operation is on. Police force is deployed with cordon of the area. About 15 fire tenders are on the spot, and more are on the way. The fire broke out on two floors. Around 50-60 people were rescued. ”
Delhi Police said that 10 people have been injured in the fire so far.
While Delhi Fire Service’s Deputy Chief Fire Officer Sunil Choudhary said some people jumped off the building, they were shifted to the hospital.
Earlier in the day, preliminary investigation found it to be a three-storey commercial building usually used to provide office space for companies, police said.
The fire broke out on the first floor of the building which houses the office of a company manufacturing CCTV cameras and routers. The owner of the company is in police custody.
“One casualty has been reported in the incident and efforts are on to control the situation,” police said.
Apart from this, a total of nine fire brigades are present at the spot and an ambulance facility is also available to provide immediate medical help to the victim.
