Alessi to Present Virgil Abloh Project During Milan Design Week – WWD – Pen 18

Alessi’s project: Alessi, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, has worked with nearly 300 designers and architects throughout its history, ranging from Alessandro Mendini and Ettore Sottsos to Philippe Starck and Marcel Wanders. Now during Milan Design Week, which runs from Monday to June 12, the Italian company will unveil a new project, the details of which are being kept secret, which was conceived with the late Virgil Abloh.

Abloh, 41, founder of Off-White and men’s creative director at Louis Vuitton, died in Chicago in November, and his impact on the fashion industry as well as pop culture and the art world is resonating globally.

Abloh graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering and a degree in architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology. Although he was a trained architect, his career has its roots deep in the skate, music, streetwear and blog scenes.

The prolific designer and his Off-White brand made countless collaborations with Levi’s on the company’s Made & Crafted line; A first in his “The Ten” series with Nike, which included the sportswear company’s reinterpretation of 10 sneakers, and with Ikea on furniture for a collection called Markrad, which featured words like “sculpture,” “temporary” on bags, watches, and more. And products like Matte were included. and “keep off.” Other collaborations include Jimmy Choo, Moncler, Tsum, Byredo, Babylon LA, Ginori, Vilebrequin, Champion, Timberland, Dr. Martens and Umbro were involved.

He teamed up with retailers Sense on athletic apparel; Sunglasses Hut at Sunglasses Collection; A special capsule for Brown, and Le Bon Marche at the cafe. In addition to fashion, she worked with Evian on water bottles under her own name for the company’s SOMA collection; With Mercedes-Benz on Project Gelandwagen for the G-Class automobile, and with artist Takashi Murakami on the artwork.
