The Indian used his rich experience to trouble Bagao from the very beginning. She came out attacking and used a combination of left and right punches to dominate her opponent.
Zareen hit her opponent in the final round with a clean punch in the face and a complete blow, forcing the referee to annul the tie with 48 seconds remaining.
Zareen will next face Commonwealth Games bronze medalist Troy Garten of New Zealand in the quarterfinals, where a win will ensure her podium spot.
