The AIFF elections are to be held on September 2.
The 45-year-old former Indian captain’s nomination was proposed by the Andhra Football Association (AFA) and approved by the Rajasthan FA.
“I have filed my nomination for the post of AIFF President and I feel I am the right person for the post,” PTI quoted him as saying.
“I have played a lot of sports for the country and top clubs and I know a little bit on the administrative side as well as I am in the Mission Olympic Cell of the Sports Ministry as well as other committees. I want Indian football to reach new heights. Arrive.” He added.
She had earlier filed her nomination for the post of president and was supported by her former teammate Deepak Mandal and eminent women’s footballer Madhu Kumari.
Former Mohun Bagan goalkeeper and West Bengal BJP leader Kalyan Choubey has also filed nominations and is considered a strong favorite for the top post.
Choubey’s nomination was proposed by the Gujarat Football Association and approved by Arunachal Pradesh.
