Billy Porter Talks ‘Anything’s Possible’ in Bold Suit on ‘Late Night’ – WWD – Pen 18

Billy Porter had a high-fashion moment while promoting his new film, “Anything Possible.”

The Emmy-, Grammy- and Tony-winning actor appeared on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” Wednesday night to talk about his directorial debut for the coming-of-age film, the story of a transgender high school student. says.

For appearances, Porter — known for her standout style — wore a graphic purple and black suit from designer Shaw Konishi.

“We need to bring some joy to the world,” Porter said of the film. “Most of the trans stories that come from ‘Pose’ and the LGBTQ+ stories we see, especially trans, are always about trauma. I was so attracted to this piece because it’s about trans joy. It It’s about celebration. It’s about the normalization and humanization of a group of people who have been dehumanized. It’s in the spirit of old John Hughes movies, a romantic, coming-of-age, rom-com and characters like Looks like what the world looks like today. Porter talked about filming the film in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pa., where he tapped several of his friends to serve as background actors.

“I was reading the script and it was written in Pittsburgh,” he said. “When I was casting I thought, ‘Oh, I have so many angels, so many friends,’ so most of the characters who are supportive are either friends of mine, like Khal’s mom and the nurses and teachers, we all kennywood parked [an area amusement park] Back together in the 80s.

Porter’s appearance on the late night show is her latest fashion moment. In June, the actor attended the 2022 BET Awards, looking for a futuristic Rick Owens outfit from the designer’s fall 2022 ready-to-wear collection.
