CWG, Day 8: India’s wrestling to kick off campaign, all eyes on Hockey, Athletics, Badminton

After an action-packed seventh day of India’s Commonwealth Games 2022 campaign in which Sudhir won the gold medal in the men’s heavyweight powerlifting and Murali Sreeshankar won the silver in the men’s long jump, all eyes are on the Indian women’s hockey team on the eighth day. Will be the ones who will fight. against Australia in the semi-finals

Sprint star Hima Das will compete in the women’s 200m semifinal.

Badminton stars Kidambi Srikanth, PV Sindhu and Akarshi Kashyap started their singles badminton campaign with a bang and entered the 16th round.

Star Para TT players Bhawna Patel, Sonalben Patel and Raj Alagar reached the semi-finals of the singles competition.

Hammer thrower Manju Bala entered the finals of the event.

Boxers Amit Panghal, Sagar Ahlawat, Rohit Tokas and Jasmine Lamboria entered the semi-finals to ensure a medal for the country.

Squash stars Joshna Chinappan and Saurav Ghosal, who entered the quarterfinals of the mixed doubles category, will be expected to reach the semi-finals.

The Indian men’s hockey team advanced to the semi-finals with a win over Wales and will look to clinch a medal.

Table tennis mixed pair of Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Manika Batra moved up to 16th place in their category. Reeth Tennyson, Sreeja Akula and Manika Batra also won their respective singles matches and qualified for the Final 16.

India’s wrestling team will also start its campaign from tomorrow, which will include stars like Bajrang Punia, Deepak Punia, Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat etc.
