Dravid did not travel to Zimbabwe for the recently concluded three-match One Day International series, which the KL Rahul-led side won 3-0. Due to the hectic international schedule, the senior selection committee rested the coaching staff including Dravid, batting coach Vikram Rathor and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey.
India will begin their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan in the Asia Cup on August 28 and will be looking to avenge their 10-wicket loss against Babar Azam in the ICC T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates last year.
A media report said that it is not clear whether Dravid will join the squad for the crucial opening match or fly to the UAE after getting clearance from the Indian Cricket Board’s medical staff.
However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet confirmed Dravid to be Kovid-19 positive.
