“Bumrah will definitely not play the World T20. He has a serious back condition. It is a stress fracture and he may be out for a period of six months,” a senior BCCI official said on the condition of anonymity.
Bumrah, who played two T20Is against Australia, did not accompany the team to Thiruvananthapuram for the first match of the series against South Africa.
Bumrah is the second senior star player after Ravindra Jadeja, who is recovering from a knee surgery, to be dropped.
