Players will introduce children to the cricket development course ‘Cryo4Good’ as participants learn more about gender equality and meet their cricketing heroes.
Australian captain Aaron Finch said: “As a father to a daughter, I am extremely proud to be the champion for girls and support the partnership between the ICC and UNICEF to promote gender equality through cricket.”
The program will be available free of charge on the websites of the ICC and UNICEF, offering an eight-week lesson plan on the fundamentals of batting, bowling and fielding.
Each lesson plan includes a life-skills module to teach participants key life skills that will promote greater gender equality. These skills include leadership, problem-solving, self-esteem, negotiation, empathy, decision making, teamwork and goal setting, the ICC said.
The partnership will continue in all ICC competitions until the Men’s ODI World Cup in India in October-November 2023.
ICC CEO Geoff Allardyce said, “Using the power of cricket to build a better future is a central part of our global growth strategy. Therefore, I want to partner with UNICEF to empower women and girls through cricket. It is a pleasure to continue the partnership.”
