sharad pawar: We could differ politically, but share same thoughts for sports: Sharad Pawar shares space with rivals ahead of MCA polls

Ahead of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) elections to be held on October 20, former BCCI president Sharad Pawar shared space with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) political rivals Devendra Fadnavis and Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde and said that although they All are different politically, but they have the same ideas when it comes to sports.

The panel of Sharad Pawar and Ashish Shelar held a meeting with Chief Minister Shinde and Deputy CM Fadnavis, where they demanded development and growth of MCA.

Sharad Pawar said during the meeting, “Everyone wants to know what is happening in tomorrow’s MCA elections. We have different political mindsets but our views for sports are the same. When I was BCCI president, Narendra Modi held meetings. When he was the President of Gujarat Cricket Association, and current Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur and Rajeev Shukla (current BCCI Vice President) used to come from Himachal. They came because we have the same passion for sports.”

Ashish Shelar, who has been recently appointed as the treasurer of the BCCI, said that political parties will enter the MCA not for their political agenda but for the development of cricket.

Deputy CM Fadnavis told the panel during the event, “Pawar ji is our relative. We assure everyone that we will work on your ideas and give money to MCA for growth and development. I am handling the finance ministry and Shelar is handling MCA financial department. So I assure that there will be no dearth of funds for MCA.”

CM Shinde said that today his government stands with Pawar. “I assure you that we will work together for the growth and development of MCA.”

Former Indian player Sandeep Patil has expressed his intention to contest the MCA elections. But current MCA vice-president Amol Kale can also throw his hat in the ring.

Voting will be held on October 20 for five office-bearers, nine councilors of the Apex Council and two representatives of the General Council of T20.

The contestants include Milind Narvekar and NCP leader Jitendra Awhad. Milind is close to former CM and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, while Awhad is also a close aide of Pawar in the NCP.
