bcci: Bumrah out of T20 World Cup with back injury: BCCI secretary Jay Shah

India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the ICC T20 World Cup due to a back injury, the BCCI announced on Monday.

Bumrah has been ruled out of the big-ticket tournament due to a stress fracture, it was first reported by PTI on September 29.

Bumrah’s absence will certainly affect India’s chances in the marquee event in Australia as death bowling is still a gray area.

The BCCI was awaiting the medical report while the pacer did his rehab at the National Cricket Academy, but it was already decided that he would be out for months.

“The BCCI medical team has dropped Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup squad. The decision was taken after a detailed assessment and consultation with experts,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in a statement.

Bumrah was initially ruled out of the ongoing three-match T20I series against South Africa due to a back injury.

While BCCI will soon replace Bumrah in the squad for the marquee tournament, Mohammed Shami and Deepak Chahar will find a place in the main squad. Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler Umran Malik’s name is expected to appear in the stand-by list.

Bumrah has a history of back problems due to his unconventional front-on action, which puts a lot of weight on his back.

In 2019 too he was ruled out for three months with a minor stress fracture, but this time, it could be a case of no show for at least four to six months.

This year, Bumrah has played only 5 games in each of the three formats apart from 14 matches for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League.

Virat Kohli: SA Series: India rest Kohli, Rahul but another stern test awaits bowling unit

It may be an insignificant game on paper but Indian bowlers await another tough test against South Africa ahead of the T20 World Cup when the two teams face off in the final match of the three-match series here on Tuesday .

After sealing their maiden series against South Africa at home, the Indian team management has decided to rest their leading batsman Virat Kohli and vice-captain KL Rahul for the final match.

A BCCI official said, “Yes, both Virat and Rahul have been rested from the final T20.

After the final match against the Proteas, Kohli and Rahul will join the team in Mumbai from where the team is scheduled to leave for Australia on October 6 for the T20 World Cup.

It is expected that additional batsman Shreyas Iyer will replace Kohli for the final match in the playing XI. With Rahul also resting, Rohit Sharma will open with Suryakumar Yadav or Rishabh Pant.

With no other reserve batsmen in the team, one might get a chance to see either Shahbaz Ahmed or Mohammad Siraj or Umesh Yadav.

Since their early exit from the T20 World Cup 12 months ago, the Indian batting has come a long way and is looking strong ahead of the next edition that begins later this month.

Most of the batsmen are similar from the UAE version but it is the drastic change in approach that has made the difference.

Entering the ICC event, India’s high-profile top-three entered top form, including Rahul, who allayed concerns about his strike rate with a scintillating effort on Sunday.

Kohli has batted at a strike rate of over 140 since the Asia Cup, including three 50s and a much-awaited century. Captain Rohit has played impressive innings during the six matches at home against Australia and South Africa.

Number four Suryakumar Yadav is in a league in his own right and seems to be batting at a much higher level than his teammates, so much so that Rohit went on to play him straight in the team’s World Cup opening match against Pakistan on 23 October. are considering.

Pant is yet to bat in the series and though Dinesh Karthik got seven deliveries in the second T20, he too will be hoping to get a hit in the middle.

Jasprit Bumrah’s absence has exacerbated India’s bowling woes, especially in the death overs, but the team needs to find a way out if the star pacer is not fit in time for the ICC event.

Deepak Chahar, who is included in the World Cup reserves, has been impressive with the new ball but his effectiveness at the back end of the innings remains in question.

Arshdeep Singh has made an impact with both the new and old ball but was unusually expensive on Sunday. After bowling three no balls, it was a forgettable night for the left-arm pacer who will be eager to bounce back.

The changes that Harshal Patel relies on to keep the batsmen under control have not been producing the desired results since his return from injury.

Red-ball great R Ashwin is yet to get a wicket in the series and India will look to him for wickets in the middle overs.

Siraj, who is part of the squad in Bumrah’s absence, may also get a chance to play at the Holkar Stadium, but India can continue with out-of-favour Harshal Patel as he will need more playing time after injury.

In the extreme humidity of Guwahati, the South African pacers struggled to catch the ball and offered several full tosses to the Indian batsmen. They want to fix it.

Despite losing the series, there has been a lot of positivity for the visitors in the batting department. Continuing his dangerous form this year, David Miller scored an unbeaten century while Quinton de Kock got the much-needed runs ahead of the World Cup.

The biggest concern for the Proteas is the form of their captain Temba Bavuma, who has not scored a single run in the series so far.

Suryakumar Yadav News: Suryakumar Yadav becomes first player to smash 50 T20I sixes in a calendar year

Suryakumar Yadav became the first batsman in the history of cricket to hit 50 sixes in the shortest format of the game in a calendar year.

He reached this milestone during the second T20I match against South Africa in Guwahati.

In the match, the wrist batsman scored a brilliant 61 runs in just 22 balls. His knock entertained players and fans alike and was decorated with five fluent fours and five sky-high sixes.

Now Suryakumar has a total of 50 sixes in his name in the 2022 calendar year. His distant rival is Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan, who hit 42 sixes last year. Veteran New Zealand opener Martin Guptill is third with 41 maximum during the 2021 calendar year.

Coming into the match, the Proteas put India to bat as they posted a mammoth total of 237/3 in their 20 overs. Explosive knocks from KL Rahul (57 off 28 balls), Suryakumar Yadav (61 off 22 balls) and Virat Kohli (49* from 28 balls) helped the Men in Blue reach this total.

Spinner Keshav Maharaj was the only bowler who looked good for the Proteas, scoring 2/23 in his four overs.

Chasing 238, South Africa lost openers Temba Bavuma and Riley Rossouw for a duck, thanks to an opening spell from pacer Arshdeep Singh (2/62). Markram was dismissed for 33 off 19 balls by Axar Patel (1/53) before Aiden Markram and Quinton de Kock shared a 45-run stand.

Subsequently, de Kock and David Miller put on a 174-run partnership for the fourth wicket, but missed out on the win by 16 runs. Miller scored a brilliant century of 106* runs in just 47 balls. De Kock scored 69* in 48 balls.

KL Rahul scored 57 runs in 28 balls to win the ‘Man of the Match’ award.

The last T20 match will be played on Tuesday at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.

After this, the three-match ODI series between the two teams will start from October 6.
