Jadeja missed the match against Delhi Capitals due to an upper body injury which he suffered during the first match against RCB.
Jadeja, who captained CSK in the first eight matches, had a season worth forgetting as he managed just 116 runs in 10 matches at an average of 20 and took only five wickets at an economy rate of 7.51.
While the official reason for Jadeja’s unavailability is injury, sources tracking developments in the CSK camp claimed that the all-rounder has been dropped.
An IPL source said on the condition of anonymity, “There seems to be more to it. Jadeja has also unfollowed CSK on Instagram.
When the CSK CEO was asked about Jadeja’s decision to unfollow the franchise on social media, he did not want to read much into it.
“I have no clue about all these things like Instagram and Twitter and so I won’t be able to tell you much about these things,” the CEO said.
While Jadeja has lost six and won two in eight matches, the ‘Yellow Brigade’ have won three out of four games as Dhoni returned as the leader.
After Dhoni took back the captaincy from Jadeja, the roundabout claimed that the all-rounder was told during the previous season that he would be handed over the captaincy for the 2022 edition.
It was the typical Dhoni-style subtle message about the Saurashtra player not doing his homework.
At 33, Jadeja is a senior India star and a decorated artist in her own right. It appears that he was not given full charge when he was at the top, an indication of this was when he was seen fielding in the deep.
Those who have followed the CSK franchise over the years have observed that if a CSK player gets injured, he usually doesn’t make it to the field. Only those who are dropped sit in the dug-out. And for the record, Jadeja was in the dug-out.
