new recruit: WWD has learned that the channel’s creative director, Virginie Viard, has added a remarkable talent to its design team.
Alexandre Morgado, a nine-year veteran of Givenchy, has joined the French house to work with Viard on special projects, including VIP dressing.
A spokeswoman for the channel confirmed the appointment to WWD, but did not provide any additional details.
To be sure, Chanel is very actively preparing its clutch of well-known brand ambassadors — including the likes of Kristen Stewart, Penelope Cruz, Charlotte Casiraghi and Blackpink’s Jenny — for red-carpet events as well. Other celebrities, such as the Grammys at Givon 2022.
According to Morgado’s LinkedIn account, he was most recently the head of design for haute couture, celebrities and special projects at Givenchy. He joined the fashion brand owned by LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton in 2013 as the Head Designer of Haute Couture and VIP in 2013.
It is understood that he worked for the Italian label Bourbonnese earlier in his career.
Many top European fashion houses have dedicated design staff for VIP dressing, which continues to attract consumer attention and engagement, especially on social media.
Given Morgado’s departure, Givenchy reorganized its teams and added Susanna Venegas, who has experience working in haute couture and ready-to-wear with Maison Margiela and John Galliano at Dior. According to a House spokesperson, she now works under Givenchy’s creative director Matthew Williams on the women’s categories and oversees all couture and VIP requests.
