dhami: Dhami takes oath as CM in presence of PM, Union Ministers and BJP CMs

The swearing-in ceremony of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was a grand event which was attended by the Prime Minister, Union Ministers and Chief Ministers of almost all the BJP ruled states.

Several senior BJP leaders including BJP National President JP Nadda, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and Yogi Adityanath attended the function held at Parade Ground in Dehradun on Wednesday.

Eight MLAs were included as ministers in the new cabinet on Wednesday. There are two new faces in the cabinet – Chandan Ram Das and Saurabh Bahuguna. Outgoing Speaker Premchand Agarwal has been made a cabinet minister this time. Five of the eight ministers were part of the previous cabinet. Three Brahmins, three Thakurs (including CM Dhami), two Scheduled Castes and one Vaishya community have got place in the new cabinet.

The party has not named three ministers to complete the quorum of eleven. The party has tried to maintain a balance between the Garhwal and Kumaon regions.

CM Dhami and three ministers Rekha Arya, Chandan Ram Das and Saurabh Bahuguna have been appointed from Kumaon while five ministers Satpal Maharaj, Premchand Agarwal, Ganesh Joshi, Dhan Singh Rawat and Subodh Uniyal have been appointed from Garhwal. ,

Saurabh Bahuguna, who was elected for the second consecutive time from Sitarganj in Kumaon region, is the son of former CM Vijay Bahuguna. Another new face Chandan Ram Das has been a four-time MLA from Bageshwar assembly seat.

Arvind Pandey, Banshidhar Bhagat and Bishan Singh Chufal, who were part of the previous cabinet, could not find a place in the new ministry. Talking to reporters after the ceremony, Dhami said that the first meeting of the new cabinet will be held on Thursday. He reiterated that his government would fulfill all the promises made during the campaign.
