j&k delimitation: Delimitation: J&K parties, except BJP, reject report

All major political parties except BJP have rejected the final report of the Delimitation Commission. Some parties termed him as “divisive”, “unjust” and “unconstitutional” with the aim of fulfilling the political agenda of the BJP-led Center in Jammu and Kashmir.

The People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration, a group of regional parties led by National Conference’s Farooq Abdullah, said the exercise was bound to render people powerless and change the electoral demography of Jammu and Kashmir in the long run.

“This exercise was imposed under the J&K Reorganization Act, which is under judicial scrutiny. We were never consulted, and any decision taken in our absence can never be the right decision and we will never take it.” Will not accept,” PAGD spokesman Muhammad Yusuf Tarigami said. CPI-M. The practice was ‘divisive’ and followed the agenda of a particular party with defiance of constitutional and legal norms. “They have not followed the 84th Amendment to the Constitution, which stopped delimitation across the country till 2026. They neither followed the norms laid down in the Delimitation Commission Act 2002,” he said.

Former CM Mehbooba Mufti dismissed the commission’s report, alleging that the panel has become an ‘extension of the BJP’. Speaking to reporters in Anantnag on Thursday, Mufti said, “The Delimitation Commission has become an extension of the BJP and has ignored the population norms and acted as per the will. We do not trust it. Its recommendations under Article related to abrogation of 370. And how to powerless the people of J&K.”

National Conference’s Imran Dar said: “The expected changes have not been made. The exercise has benefited the BJP and its supporters, whose concerns have been addressed. It is a reshuffle to fulfill a political agenda. NC I believe that whenever assembly elections are held, voters will give a decisive answer to the BJP and its supporters.”

BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir chief Ravidner Raina termed it as ‘amazing’. He congratulated the panel for completing the process on time. Former Union Minister of Congress Saifuddin Soz expressed disappointment over the commission’s report and said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir may find it unacceptable.
