Couture Fall 2022 Trend: Metal Mining – WWD – Pen 18

The Paris couture season was filled with lots of shimmery and glamorous collections, which paved the way for bold metallics to take center stage in the fashion trends for the fall 2022 season.

With a runway show set in the tone of Grace Jones’ “nightclubbing,” designer Alexandre Vauthier channeled discoball bling with megawatt metallic fashion, in a head-to-toe silver look.

“It’s been a season of shimmery and glamorous couture, with lots of dainty and sparkly embroideries,” says Miles Socha of WWD of Kim Jones’s Pucci T-Packed T-with dazzling embroidery and silver bugle beads within her couture collection for Fendi. Shirt written. Socha wrote, “Jones held her own, Karl Lagerfeld wore some ‘scattered mirror’ dresses for Fendi in 2000, and lean, minimalist dresses with glitter beads and embroidery.”

At Valentino, Pierpaolo Piccioli’s craftsmanship “embroidered sequins shine here, rhinestones shimmer there on a black Guipure tank top,” wrote WWD’s Luisa Zargani. There was even a head-to-toe shiny silver look with a shiny silver body paint.

Mute metallic tones emerged on the Dior Couture runway, while designer Zuhair Murad fueled the trend with silver-star embroidery. Additionally, silver and gold looks from Olivier Rousteing for John Paul Gaultier Couture, Chanel, Giambattista Valli, Balenciaga (as seen on actress Nicole Kidman), Stephen Rolland, Iris van Herpen and more were added to the bold Fall of 2022 .

In Rahul Mishra, the designer went bold with gold, with an opening look blooming with golden leaf-inspired embroidery, such as a flared, spangled skirt or a thigh-length, gold-striped jacket dress. “Misra did not stop here. They intertwined the gold theme with vivid, colorful floral embroidery. They appeared on the likes of a V-neck dress with golden embellishments on the torso and embroidery from the waist down of small flowers, houses and rabbits,” Jennifer Weil said in a review of the gilded collection.
