Magliano’s Downbeat Chic for Spring 2023 Has Cinematic Qualities – WWD – Pen 18

Luca Magliano should consider moving his fashion show from Milan Fashion Week to the Cannes Film Festival. Directors like Jim Jarmusch or Chloe Zhao might just as well combine the fascinating storytelling with the designer’s downbeat chic to the compelling story.

Some of the men walking the catwalk with their raised Perspex looked as though they had gotten out of the shower to answer the door, pulled up an all-nighter or maybe even slept on a park bench. One fellow, eyes down, was walking in a large gray T-shirt with an “I” and a broken heart symbol.

Press notes refer to recycled scarves and “shirts made from old shirts”, which explains the old, out-of-date quality for many garments. Yet it was hard to tell whether was repurchased and recycled, or just to look old, and beaten.

The fashion pack passed rusty wheelbarrows and heaps of weeds on their way into the show venue, an abandoned electrical substation with broken windows and decades of dust in the corners.

But while the display had a gloomy, dystopian air, make no mistake that Magliano has the definite hand stitching and terrific color sense, sliding cocoa brown together with dusty purple, or olive with fiery red. Here’s a collection that calls for a re-watch.

There’s a new grunge king in Milan, and possibly a budding costume designer.

fih pro league: India lose 1-2 in second match as Netherlands claim FIH Pro League men’s title

The Indian men’s hockey team’s FIH Pro League title hopes were dashed after a 1-2 loss to the Netherlands in the second match of the two-leg match here on Sunday. India lost 1-4 to the Dutch in a shoot-out on Saturday after both sides ended the rule 2-2 at the end of 60 minutes.

The Indians needed an outright victory over the Netherlands to have an outside chance of getting the tile, but that was not to be the case.

The Netherlands won the FIH Pro League in the men’s section with 35 points from 14 games, with two games to go.

Olympic champions Belgium finished second with 35 points from 16 matches, while India finished third with 30 points from 16 matches.

The Indians got off to a strong start with a brilliant field goal from Abhishek to take the lead within 30 seconds.

Abhishek collected the ball on the right flank and diddge four defenders with brilliant stickwork to push the ball past Netherlands goalkeeper Mauritz Visser.

Indians put down Dutch defense

Pressure from the start and dominated the early part of the exchanges.

But the Netherlands made their way into the game in the seventh minute by leveling the score via a penalty corner conversion by Zip Janssen.

It was an end-to-end hockey match between world number three Netherlands and world number four India, with both teams pitting each other for sticks.

Netherlands India were patient inside the circle and in doing so secured another penalty corner in the 11th minute, which was kept away by Indian goalkeeper PR Sreejesh.

The Dutchman secured three more penalty corners but failed to breach the Indian defence.

India secured a PC in the 16th minute but Harmanpreet Singh’s flick was saved by the Dutch custodian.

The hosts soon managed another PC but once again the experienced Sreejesh came to India’s rescue.

Two minutes after half time, India scored back-to-back penalty corners, but the Dutchman held on to the defense.

The third quarter also produced exciting hockey, but both teams failed to score until the 45th minute, when Jorit Kroon sounded off the board with a set piece to give the hosts a 2–1 lead.

Trailing by a goal, the Indians gave their all in the fourth and final quarter, creating as many goal-scoring opportunities as penalty corners, but failed to take advantage of the opportunities.

In the 47th minute, a penalty corner flick from Varun Kumar was saved by Dutch keeper Visser.

India had their chances, but Visser scored a brilliant performance in front of the Netherlands goal.

India secured a penalty corner in four minutes from a hooter, but once again missed the opportunity to put up their best performance for the second day in a row.

india: Cricket: India, South Africa draw T20 series 2-2 as rain plays spoilsport

India and South Africa shared honors in the five-match T20I series, with only 3.3 overs of play possible after the last game was canceled due to rain here on Sunday.

India and South Africa were tied 2-2 after four matches.

After being put into bat, incessant rain delayed the game by 50 minutes. It started raining as soon as the game started.

The winding match began at 7:50 pm, but was called off after only 16 minutes of play, in which India could score 28 runs for the loss of two wickets.

Lungi Ngidi took both the wickets of Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad on slow deliveries.

Kishan hit two sixes in Keshav Maharaj’s opening over but was undone by a slow delivery from Ngidi as he committed to the shot early and completed it.

Gaikwad too failed to pick up the ball at a slow pace and was dismissed at mid-on before heaven reopened to halt the series decider.

The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) later informed that they would refund 50 per cent of the ticket money to the spectators after the wash out.

Çanaku Men’s Spring 2023 – WWD – Pen 18

In 1991, Viola Valentino, the then-famous pop star from Italy, came out with a hit song titled “Romantici,” or “The Romantics,” which summed up the willful and dreamy inclinations of the youth of the era.

Among them, designer Jurgen Kanaku’s Albanian parents were fleeing their country to Italy. Tales from that journey have been the designer’s primary source of inspiration since founding his brand after years as a buyer, combining a post-romantic aesthetic and a vintage flair.

As her fashions gained steam and were picked up by musicians such as menskins for public events, her tailoring intensified for spring, yet with lots of retro twists, such as the double-breasted suit in gem blue. Done with slightly flared pants, green or mustard yellow.

A pin-striped number with wide lapels and a retro twist read New Romantics, while cropped and cropped sartorial pieces were just too much, including an emerald green tuxedo jacket cropped at the hip.
