devendra fadnavis: As predicted, says Devendra Fadnavis after FIR against Pravin Darekar

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday created a ruckus after Mumbai Police filed an FIR against Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Pravin Darekar. The BJP leader has been booked for cheating, criminal breach of trust and criminal conspiracy. The FIR, based on a complaint filed by Aam Aadmi Party functionary Dhananjay Shinde, claimed that Darekar had falsely claimed that he was a laborer to contest for the post of director in Mumbai Co-operative Bank.

BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis said that there is a conspiracy by the Maha Vikas Aghadi government to implicate Darekar to silence him. Fadnavis said, ‘I had said in the state assembly only on Monday that Sanjay Pandey has been made the police commissioner of Mumbai to implicate BJP leaders including Darekar.

“If there is any merit in the case of Mumbai Police against Darekar, then several leaders of NCP, Congress and Shiv Sena, who are office bearers of cooperatives and have contested elections from trade unions, will also be booked,” he said.

“We have been told by MVA leaders that the Chief Minister’s Office has given a list of six to seven names of BJP leaders to be prepared by the police and Darekar’s name was at the top of the list. However, we want to tell the government that Fadnavis Said, we are not afraid of it and we will fight it.

ET had earlier reported that the MVA government was under pressure to take “action” against the BJP leaders after several MVA leaders, including Sanjay Raut, Anil Deshmukh and Nawab Malik were booked by various central probe agencies. Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut had even warned that three BJP leaders would soon end up in jail.

The state police has already registered a case against Union Minister Narayan Rane and his MLA son Nitesh for claiming that celebrity manager Disha Salian was raped and murdered. The Shiv Sena-controlled Mumbai Municipal Corporation has also sent a notice to Rane to demolish “unauthorized” constructions in his family’s bungalow within 15 days.
