New L.A. Restaurant Melroseplace Offers All-Day Dining, Rooftop Views – WWD – Pen 18

After an initial pandemic lull, store openings have heated up at Los Angeles’ famed shopping Melrose Place, the Adidas x Gucci pop-up on June 7, and most recently the opening of celebrity-loved accessories brand Buy’s first boutique. with. Far, California-colored contemporary brand Staud and Italian brand Fort Forte.

Now the drought of the street restaurant is also over.

There’s a new all-day restaurant located in the former Albright Private Club, with rooftop views, and what’s called – Melroseplace.

The three-story, 8,000-square-foot space (with free valet until 4 p.m.) was conceived by Sunset Collective, the hospitality group behind nearby hotspot Offset, and Shion Koppel, founder of sneaker garden streetwear and collector Kick stores. is counted among its ranks. ,

The mirrored tunnel entry is a dream social media backdrop going into the restaurant at 8472 Melrose Place, designed by Franklin Studio. Upstairs, the second-floor cafe and dining room features lots of light and walls of framed celebrity and fashion photographs.

The rooftop green bar and dining area is an urban oasis that’s open until 2 a.m., with sunset hour drink specials. Melroseplace has already hosted a premiere party for Showtime’s “I Love That For You” with Vanessa Baer and Molly Shannon. Selena Gomez, Diplo, Sharon Stone, Casey Affleck and Ryan Phillippe have also stayed.

The name, Koppel said, was inspired by the history of the iconic L.A. Street, from high-end antiques dealers and Hollywood crew who were tenants from the ’60s-’80s (Neil Diamond had his office in the building that is now The Row. Store), conceived the “Melrose Place” of the ’90s TV show.

“The pandemic has gotten rid of older, dryer brands, and now we have new brands coming in,” said chief executive officer of SK Venture Group, which has ventures into hospitality, retail and real estate in California, Oklahoma and Ohio.
